Erasmus +
Internship abroad
Erasmus+ scholarships available for selected Diploma students who have secured internships abroad.
Hyper Island Erasmus +
Hyper Island has been an Erasmus+ accredited school since 2022, enabling us to support active YH Diploma program students in pursuing internships abroad as part of their curriculum.
This initiative, officially called “Learning Mobility of VET learners” (Vocational Education and Training), facilitates valuable international experience.
Hyper Island aims to award several scholarships annually, typically one per open call. The exact number may vary based on available funding. Internships should preferably match the dates indicated in the program curriculum.
Students are responsible for finding their own internships abroad. This opportunity is for those who have secured an internship and need financial assistance to make it a reality. Selection for funding will be based on the answers submitted through our application process. A panel of Hyper Island staff will review the applications. Eligible students can be from either our Stockholm or Karlshamn campuses.
Who can apply?
- Enrolled in YH Diploma programs.
- Have secured an internship abroad in one of the Erasmus+ Programme countries.

QUICK EXPLAINER
TAKE CARE OF PRACTICALITY
GOOD TO KEEP IN MIND
You are responsible for finding an internship place for yourself, just as you are responsible for finding an internship place in Sweden. The Learning Designers and other staff members of Hyper Island will support you as much as they can within their capacities.
Traineeship or Internship must take place outside of Sweden, in an EU Member State or in a third country associated with the Programme.
These countries are EU member states:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain.
Third countries associated with the Programme:
Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Türkiye.
Hyper Island will finance your costs related to your travel from your campus to your internship placement office, as well as costs of subsistence. The total amount depends on the length of your internship, the distance between your Hyper Island campus and the city where you are going to do an internship and the country where you are going to do an internship. In certain countries, you will receive higher amounts for subsistence costs and in certain countries, you will receive less.
All travel must be booked by Hyper Island. You will be put in touch with the right member of staff at Hyper Island when it’s time to book your travel. Hyper Island will only cover one return ticket (to and from the internship location). If a student wishes to travel back home for holidays, family events etc, Hyper Island will not cover expenses connected to this travel.
What counts as green travel?
Lower-emission options such as trains or buses are regarded as “green” travel. Taking a plane, ferry or travelling solo by car is not considered “green.” Hyper Island would like to encourage all of our community members to use lower-emission transportation.
Learning mobility of VET learners allows students to spend a period abroad at a partner VET provider, in a company, or in another organization active in the VET or labour market. The duration of the learning period should align with the internship period indicated in the program curriculum. It must include a strong work-based component and an individual learning program must be defined for each participant.
All students who study in YH programs at Hyper Island are eligible to apply, it does not matter if you are a YH student from one of the Nordic countries or an international student from elsewhere. Please keep in mind though that in case you are a non-EU citizen, it is your responsibility to apply for a visa for the respective country where you plan to do an internship.
Hyper Island aims to provide similar opportunities every year. The school is currently accredited until 2027 with a possibility to extend the accreditation beyond this date. Hyper Island will apply yearly for Erasmus+ funds to continue sending students abroad annually and we hope that this will become a norm in the coming years.
In addition to the official agreement and grant terms with the school, you’ll also be expected to collaborate with the Hyper Island marketing team. This collaboration means when the Marketing team reaches out, you are expected to share stories, images, and videos that capture your daily experiences while abroad.
